Objectives
Work Package 4 (WP4) “Capacity building and training” aims
- To set up educational training systems in preparation for, response to, recovery from and mitigation of risks for decision-makers, staff, and other key actors in relation to the topics addressed by the project.
- To raise awareness among archival staff and all levels of society of possible harms caused by disasters and climate change on documentary heritage, and ultimately to adopt habits that will contribute to prevent damage as well as justify the need for further investments in research and education.
This work package refers to the process of developing the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to effectively introduce sustainable practices and technologies. It involves building the capacity of archival institutions and their staff to carry out their mission and meet the environmental needs.
Launching workshop to raise awareness among archival professionals
At the outset of the project a workshop on disaster risk management and climate change on archives took place n the framework of the Hungarian Presidency of the European Union, addressing thus not only the partners, but also the rest of EU Archives and members of European Heads of Conservation (EHC) at its 15th meeting. The aim of the workshop is to develop self assessment tasks in relation to disaster management, identify contents that could be addressed afterwards and set up a sub working group to create specific content for the workshops within the workpage.
Hybrid Workshops
Each partner archive institution will develop a 2-day hybrid workshop on disaster risk management and archives greening as follow: May 12-13 (Hungary); October 30-31 (Spain); November 5-6 (Portugal); November 13-14 (Malta); December 4-5 (Italy). The workshop will include the inputs from the scientific partners so far.
Digital Multilingual Training Courses
This activity will result in the development of digital multilingual training courses on disaster risk management and archives greening. The courses will follow sound pedagogical principles, take a universal design for learning (UDL) approach and will deliver an engaging learner experience. The courses will be tested and further improved after receiving feedback.
